Last year, I walked into NOAHCON 24 with nothing but a heart full of stories and the MUSACOR scholarship that made it possible for me to be in the room.
This year… I return, not just as an attendee, but as a speaker.
My presentation, “Artistic Narrative Circles: Using African Storytelling to Transform Maternal Mental Health Care,” has been accepted for presentation at NOAHCON 25.
To say this is full circle doesn’t even begin to describe it.
As a Story Psychologist and narrative-based arts-in-health practitioner, I carry generations of silenced and concealed stories that deserve to be heard, on stages, in clinics, and across cultures.
This work is not just about performance.
It’s about healing mothers and expecting mothers to heal with stories.
It’s about creating policies that support mothers’ prenatal depression. A much-needed prevention that we need in our societies
It’s about the resistance to the status quo of what new mothers go through before, during, and after childbirth.
It’s about showing love and support to mothers and their babies before they are born into the world.
And being able to share it in a space like NOAH means the world.
